CrowdStrike, the firm that was responsible for millions of computers crashing after a botched update pushed out last week, is partnering with Uber Eats to offer their partners a $10 gift card as an apology. Due to the “additional work” that was caused by the incident on July 19th, the gift card was sent around. On Wednesday, some of the people who went to redeem the offer got an error message on Uber Eats stating that the gift has been canceled by the issuing party and is no longer valid.

CrowdStrike spokesperson Kevin Benacci stated that “We did send these to our teammates and partners who have been helping customers through this situation. Uber flagged it as fraud because of the high usage rates. The company only sent the gift cards to teammates and employees to show good faith for their commitment in working with frustrated customers throughout the day during the crash.

On July 19th millions of consumer computers suffered deadly blue screens from a bad update pushed to nearly 9 million window computers. The outage caused massive disruptions at airports and hospitals which caused dozens of flights around the world to be delayed and caused millions of dollars in lost business for many around the world. The company stated that it would be adding additional layers between when updates are pushed out to prevent a case like this from happening.
