Gamestop has been struggling with their physical stores in the highly competitive video game market as things become more digital. A new approach that the company is taking will be to open new Retro stores that will showcase vintage consoles and classic games. Gamestop stock has seen lots of volatility in the past 3 months, investors will keep an eye on this pivot the company is making. Gamestop announced that only select stores will be converted into these Retro style stores. The locations will offer old consoles, discs, cartridges, and accessories dating all the way back to the original Nintendo Entertainment system from 1985. Many video game enthusiasts will be looking to buy many of the products as collectible items for the future. This in turn could increase revenue for Gamestop, seen in the movement of the stock ($GME) this week.
