United Airlines on Friday has stated that they have plan to offer free inflight Wi-Fi for hundreds of its jetlines, as they are landing a big deal with SpaceX’s starlink product. The team has been investing in faster Wi-Fi and will be doing this to attract more flight customers with this new incentive. In previous years SpaceX has made a deal with semi-private airline JSX. United Airlines stated that it plans to add Starlink to over 1,000 planes in the “next several years” with the first passenger flights to start receiving these services early next year after installation begins on the planes. United stated that the product will be offered “Gate-to-Gate” access to Wi-Fi. SpaceX has been using its satellites to provide internet access all over the world, including over the oceans, polar regions, and many remote locations that are traditionally not able to access Wi-Fi. This has always been a huge selling point for airlines over both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, as Starlink carries connectivity globally. Investors will keep their eye on ($UAL) as the stock jumped 2.4% after the news was released early morning today.
